[1:35:05 PM] Casey: okay, that all sounds great.
[1:35:30 PM] Casey: Sorry to railroad you a little bit, but the first adventure is going to be a bit railroady in order to get everyone in play.
[1:37:08 PM] Casey: you have 200 Orcs, 400 Kobolds and 400 Goblins under your control now. You can train champions out of them, raiders for your ingredients, etc etc. 10 Orc specialists, 20 Kobolds / Goblin specialists.
[1:39:32 PM] Casey: a Bugbear comes to you named Garuhek
[1:40:26 PM] Casey: and he says he’s found one of the items you’ve been searching for. (I’ll just have to pretend you’ve been sending out squads lead by Cheese searching for similar items / sightings, to move this plot along)
[1:41:04 PM] Casey: He describes a sword of Elven make, with a silvery blade and a green, teardrop emerald in the hilt.
[1:43:00 PM] Casey: You know of various lore and legends that name this item as a serious player, if it’s indeed the real thing. You’ve heard word that this sword created the Lanataiga
[1:43:28 PM] Casey: which is a swampy, cold forest with bad rain storms and nasty monsters in it.
[1:44:11 PM] Casey: Garuhek tells you he can bring you this sword, but he needs a force of goblins, and specifically at least one shaman.
[1:48:02 PM] Casey: Garuhek doesn’t know anything about this weapon. All he knows about it is that your forces have been looking for it, and you have access to Goblin shamen.
[1:48:33 PM] Matt Delong: Mix shifts his weight from his left foot to his right impatiently," Don’t just stand there gawking, Garuhek!" He growls," Where is Cheese?" looking around exasperated," Nevermind that…" He shakes his head,“I am surrounded….” He looks back to Garuhek,“This is impossible for even you to fail. Take your platoon of Goblins. I do not see why you need a Shaman to pick up a sword. But go ahead and take one! If anyone gets in your way. Destroy them with extreme prejudice.” He pulls out his want as if he will vaporize Garuhek, but instead puts it back away and waves him off," Be gone, and return with my prize."
[1:50:33 PM] Casey: Garuhek nods briskly and wraps on his chest in a somewhat primal salute, probably some custom of his own people.
He gathers up his group (10 goblins and 1 shaman?) to depart.
[1:50:57 PM] Matt Delong: Yep that’s about platoon size.
[1:52:40 PM] Casey: Does Mix have a familiar or does he breed any animals that he could enchant to spy for him?
[1:52:53 PM] Casey: and if so, does he want to send them to monitor this mission?
[1:55:00 PM] Matt Delong: No. He breeds all of these Kobalds, Orcs, and Goblins. Mix is does not want to micro manage if he does not have to. In all honesty, Cheese would be as much a familiar if anything. But, Cheese is being cheese and is probably off getting himself into trouble or doing something stupid. ;)
[1:55:17 PM] Casey: gotcha
[1:56:37 PM] Matt Delong: A familiar would mean that Mix would have to watch his own orcs and goblins. They fart, talk stupid, and do stupid things when they are not ordered to grab sword. Mix would not want to watch them fart, talk stupid, and do stupid all the way to sword and back.
[1:56:54 PM] Casey: hehehe
[1:56:59 PM] Casey: okay, no worries.
[1:57:05 PM] Casey: what is Mix’s symbol?
[1:57:29 PM] Casey: (I am assuming that since he is interested in ruling hte world, he wants people ot know his name and forces)
[2:00:37 PM] Matt Delong: Symbol of Chaos
[2:00:52 PM] Casey: okay I’ll google it
[2:01:02 PM] Matt Delong: It has 8 arrows shooting out from a center
[2:01:07 PM] Casey: ah right i’ve seen that
[2:01:43 PM] Casey: okay, in my game all Wizards use a fake name, because if someone knows your name, they can bind you, summon you
[2:01:44 PM] Casey: kill you
[2:01:49 PM] Casey: etc, do magic to you
[2:01:56 PM] Casey: so either Mix is his fake name
[2:01:59 PM] Casey: or he needs a fake name
[2:02:11 PM] Matt Delong: Mix is his fake name.
[2:02:23 PM] Matt Delong: Cheese is his brother’s fake name.
[2:02:41 PM] Casey: gotcha
[2:03:33 PM] Matt Delong: Have our heroes created their characters yet?
[2:03:51 PM] Casey: not yet, on wednesday
[2:04:32 PM] Casey: I’m gonna have them roll up each stat, and then barter with each other
[2:04:50 PM] Casey: to trade stats around and help even out the party’s power
[2:05:23 PM] Casey: okay let me check my question list for the other guy…the lawful bad
[2:05:32 PM] Casey: and make sure we’re all on-ar
[2:08:13 PM] Casey: okay, so you have your orc hordes and goblins and kobolds, but how do you control your hordes? I assume you have an actual loyal force who are your true followers.
[2:08:49 PM] Casey: I am guessing you either give them territory or some magic, or you rule by strength so you give them a show a strength once a month or so
[2:09:02 PM] Casey: something to keep your police in line
[2:09:40 PM] Matt Delong: It would depend on the situation.
[2:09:52 PM] Casey: kk
[2:10:25 PM] Casey: I just mean a general methodology in regards to…why are these guys following you, and if the answer is “because the bigger orcs will punch me”
[2:10:29 PM] Casey: then why do those orcs follow oyu?
[2:11:30 PM] Matt Delong: Fear. They fear Mix.
[2:11:43 PM] Matt Delong: have you watched Game of Thrones?
[2:11:50 PM] Casey: some, yeha
[2:11:53 PM] Matt Delong: Lord Bolton?
[2:12:03 PM] Casey: I’ll research him
[2:12:25 PM] Casey: okay so what I am guessing is you line up your failures every few weeks,
[2:12:33 PM] Matt Delong: Flayer is going to flay.
[2:12:44 PM] Casey: have a big orc stompy party and get everyone in a frenzy and then flay them alive
[2:12:56 PM] Matt Delong: Yes.
[2:13:07 PM] Casey: okay, cool. Just trying to understand this guys network
[2:13:44 PM] Matt Delong: How about this…
[2:14:11 PM] Matt Delong: I will tell Mix’s short history of how he got here. Maybe that will give a lot of the info you need?
[2:17:13 PM] Casey: yeah sure!
[2:17:15 PM] Casey: would love that
[2:22:06 PM] Matt Delong: To start, Mix is a psychopath. He was born a psychopath and will most likely die one. Violently. Starting out, Mix was not Violent. He knew he would get destroyed unless he had more power. More magic. More land and more army than anyone else. Once he learned what he did. He started his campaign of terror. First. By destroying his home village. Cheese, mesmerized by Mix’s will to take over the world followed dumbly. If Mix needs gold, he took it. So far, no one has stood up to Mix. He has been able to steal gold, women, and drink with impunity. Men who like gold, women, and drink easily tend to follow Mix because he has a lot of it and can get it whenever he wants.
[2:23:52 PM] Matt Delong: If Mix has lots of men and followers, it is easier to pay people off then to even pick up his wand. So, there will need to be accountants, cooks, wagon drivers, shaman, & whores.
[2:25:09 PM] Matt Delong: If accountants come to Mix and say they need more gold. Mix will check the ledgers and make sure Accounts are not stealing from Mix, then if required, Mix will go out himself and get gold.
[2:25:30 PM] Casey: okay, how will he do this?
[2:26:46 PM] Matt Delong: Need more info on your world you are creating. Are there kings, lords, nobles, churches, banks?
[2:27:43 PM] Matt Delong: Hrm, good question. Mix could steal gold
[2:27:59 PM] Casey: yeah, let me gather it up
[2:28:07 PM] Matt Delong: However, if he has lots of men. It would be more profitable if Mix created magical equipment and had his men sell it off.
[2:28:36 PM] Casey: that could work! does he have any other mages?
[2:28:43 PM] Casey: well he has some goblin shamen at least
[2:29:09 PM] Casey: trying to think who he is arming or what he is selling.
[2:29:19 PM] Casey: he could go and attack other tribes of orcs, bandits, goblins
[2:29:23 PM] Casey: who are not Mix’s guys.
[2:29:39 PM] Casey: he could go attack towns near his territory and loot them
[2:29:56 PM] Casey: he could use his horde to enslave people and then sell those guys
[2:30:17 PM] Casey: or use those guys to like….I dunno, do something profitable.
[2:30:26 PM] Matt Delong: Drugs make people feel good. Mix also could magically create drugs for people have his people sell that too.
[2:30:28 PM] Casey: (sort of just spit balling here)
[2:30:34 PM] Casey: yeah totally
[2:30:42 PM] Casey: that would be super profitable, if I understand drugs
[2:32:06 PM] Matt Delong: Well, there ya go. That’s how mix gets money and gets people to work for him. Arms dealer, drug kingpin by day. Flayer by hobby. Wizard. Future ruler of the world. And trying to summon his own hero.
[2:34:29 PM] Casey: nice :D
[2:34:36 PM] Casey: that is a nice, busy bad guy with a lot of plots
[2:35:21 PM] Casey: I can imagine he goes and raids towns, takes slaves, and he gives them like potions of healing that are laced with fantasy heroin
[2:35:28 PM] Casey: that heals them and addicts them
[2:35:51 PM] Casey: man I really hate evil characters, I can barely run these guys at the table,
[2:36:01 PM] Casey: but it’s fun to be evil when I can talk to someone else about it
[2:51:28 PM] Matt Delong: I am happy you can visualize him. Now you can do a good job describing him to the heroes. :)
[2:52:43 PM] Matt Delong: Hope you guys enjoy him. :)
[3:34:05 PM] Casey: yeah :d
[3:34:40 PM] Casey: I’ll let you know how Garuhek does
[3:35:40 PM] Casey: if he succeeds, you’ll have Vilyataurne in your hands, which is one of these 6 (maybe) super duper epic weapons that whole campaigns are going to rotate around
[3:36:37 PM] Casey: Vilyataurne is a chaotic longsword of air and nature, and at it’s full evolution (it’s a custom legacy weapon from Weapons of Legacy)
[3:37:46 PM] Casey: it has a power called Call The Storm that summons up a huge lightning storm, and where lightning hits the ground, trees and roots start to grow rapidly, cracking the earth and freeing the ground water, etc
[3:38:18 PM] Casey: (I don’t think the PCs will actually reach lvl 20 in this campaign, but this is the potential of the weapon)
